All the while in those days open auditions were what kept you going. The excitement, the challenge, the lines, the waiting, the frustration and the drive home in rush hour traffic, that was what made open auditions the number one attraction in the world of up and coming actors and actresses who were struggling for their big break.
Just one lucky break in a sea of open auditions could make it all worthwhile. People would put their entire lives on hold just for one opportunity to go out on one, shunning friends, family, and team bowling on Thursday nights just to take a shot at what open auditions promised, even if nothing came of it, the possibility was always there.
Open auditions have evolved, and so have actors and actresses. The celphone was unheard of in the old days, and often fights would break out over the use of pay phones at nearby gas stations, and actresses would have to come up with creative excuses for why they needed to use the phone in order to convince receptionists and office staff why they had to use the phone. Open auditions haven't changed in one aspect however, and that is in the fact that one can literally become a celebrity overnight if you happen to get lucky at the right one.
